Cameron Nickerson draws inspiration from lived experience at his century-old camp in small town Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
Nominated by the Canadian Country Music Association for 2025’s Innovative Campaign of the Year, Nickerson’s relentless pursuit of truth in songwriting has positioned him as a rising voice in the Americana scene.
Cameron's third solo album, his debut bluegrass record, The Wagon, has landed on SiriusXM’s “North Americana” (Ch. 359) and Spotify’s “North Country,” and has quickly picked up two Music Nova Scotia nominations for Country Recording of the Year and Folk/Roots Recording of the Year, marking a new chapter as he leans into bluegrass with his band, The 340 South.
With his head tats and bluegrass—Nickerson’s proving that tradition still has plenty of edge.

Here’s another great artist who clearly draws inspiration from the old country greats…Cameron’s take has been filtered through a generation or two of neo-traditionalists like Jason Isbell, but you can still hear shades of Willie, Johnny, and Merle in the songs. There are some lovely female harmony vocals on this record too.
