singer-songwriter Cameron Nickerson returns on July 24 with his latest
single, "Coffee and Sleeping Pills."

A fast-paced, no-nonsense bluegrass burner, Coffee and Sleeping Pills
captures the grind of working a day job you can't stand, while trying to
stay awake through endless shift work.

The track was produced, mixed and mastered by Tennessee's Troy Boone, whose work
preserves the raw energy of the performance while delivering a polished, modern bluegrass sound and has rec'd editorial support from Spotify on "North Country" as well as a feature on Sirius XM's "North Americana" hosted by Patrick Bateman (CH 359).

Atlantic Canadian singer-songwriter Cameron Nickerson has officially released his new contemporary bluegrass album, The Wagon. Rooted in traditional instrumentation and modern storytelling, the album captures Nickerson’s journeys—both physical and spiritual—with a particular focus on substance use, sobriety, and the quiet strength it takes to keep moving forward.

At the centre of the record is the focus track “Weldin’ on a Wheel,” a raw and unflinching track about temptation and staying the course. Built around a driving acoustic guitar riff, the song uses The Wagon as a metaphor for recovery—something heavy, imperfect, but worth reinforcing every single day. “It’s about knowing exactly who you were, who you could still be,” says Nickerson, “and deliberately choosing not to go back there.”

Cameron's third solo album has landed on SiriusXM’s “North Americana” (Ch. 359) and Spotify Editorial, “North Country,” and has quickly picked up two Music Nova Scotia nominations for Country Recording of the Year and Folk/Roots Recording of the Year, marking a new chapter as he leans into bluegrass with his band, The 340 South.

Where his debut, Detours, leaned toward country-rock, Submission finds Cameron digging deeper into Americana and traditional country, drawing from the spirit of artists like Waylon Jennings, Sturgill Simpson, Colter Wall, and Vincent Neil Emerson.

At its heart, Submission is about resistance — refusing to surrender to the expectations of others while confronting what it means to repeatedly put yourself out there and hear “no.” The album also turns inward, exploring self-discovery, family, and ambition.

Across its eight tracks, Submission balances grit, humour, vulnerability, and classic country storytelling. Standouts like the title track, the reflective “Grandpa,” and the tongue-in-cheek “Famous” showcase Cameron’s ability to move effortlessly between personal confession and sharp, memorable songwriting.

The album was met with critical acclaim and earned Cameron a 2023 Music Nova Scotia Award nomination for Country Recording of the Year. Its release also marked an important expansion of Cameron’s live career, taking him to the Emerging Artist Stage at the 2023 Cavendish Beach Music Festival and the Main Stage at Larlee Creek Hullaboo.

Submission represents a pivotal chapter in Cameron’s musical journey — bridging the country-rock of Detours with the traditional country and bluegrass influences that would define the next era of his music.
